Facilities & Green Space

Inclusive Changerooms

The Queensland Rugby League (QRL) is actively advancing inclusive infrastructure to support the growing participation of female players across
the state. Since 2016, female rugby league involvement in Queensland has surged by over 15% annually, more than doubling by 2021.

To accommodate this growth, the QRL has implemented several strategic initiatives. In collaboration with the Queensland Government, the QRL cofunded the Rugby League Infrastructure Fund, committing $1.328 million to enhance inclusive facilities statewide. This investment aims to ensure that club facilities are accessible and of the highest standard for all participants.

The QRL’s Infrastructure Strategy mandates that all new developments include gender-neutral or female-specific amenities, such as changerooms,
to foster a welcoming environment for women and girls.

These efforts are part of the QRL’s broader commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that rugby league remains a sport for everyone in
Queensland.

Club Infrastructure

With more than 300 clubs across the State, a strong focus on club infrastructure and facilities is important to  the very foundations of rugby league in Queensland.

Ensuring that clubs have safe facilities, including lighting, quality fields and fencing is paramount to ensuring the game can thrive for decades to come. By investing in safe, modern, community‑focused facilities, the Maroons Foundation and QRL help clubs grow participation, support volunteers, and create environments where young people feel proud to belong.

It is about contributing something bigger than any single season, it’s building the places where future Maroons first fall in love with the game and where communities come together around it.

Disaster Relief

When natural disasters strike, clubs often suffer devastating losses, from damaged infrastructure and equipment to disrupted programs and services. That’s why our commitment to supporting clubs in times of crisis is unwavering.

We help local clubs get back on their feet by providing critical funding, resources, and hands-on assistance. Whether it’s rebuilding a clubhouse, replacing sporting gear, or offering emotional and mental health support for volunteers and athletes, our goal is to restore the physical spaces and the spirit and connection these clubs foster as quickly as possible

Your contribution directly funds recovery grants and programs that ensure clubs can return to doing what they do best—bringing people together, promoting healthy lifestyles, and building resilient communities.
