Wellbeing & Social Impact Programs

Support Squad

The Support Squad exists to support members of the Queensland Rugby League community when they need it most. Whether it’s a player, volunteer, official or someone who has given years to the game, this program steps in during times of hardship, illness or unexpected challenge.

Backed by donors and partners, the Support Squad delivers real, practical support that makes a genuine difference. It’s built on what rugby league in Queensland has always stood for, looking after your own and standing together when it counts.

Launched in 2021, the program equips volunteers with mental health first aid training and connects them to professional support networks, such as the White Cloud Foundation.

Resilience Education

The Maroons Foundation works with expert delivery partners to provide resilience education programs to young people involved in our game.  These programs improve their confidence, wellbeing and decision‑making, so they can thrive on and off the field.

For supporters of the Maroons Foundation, it’s a powerful way to invest in the next generation — not just shaping better athletes, but helping build stronger, more resilient young Queenslanders.

Brain Health

QRL’s brain health programs put player wellbeing at the centre of the game, making sure every participant — from juniors to seniors — is protected with the latest education, protocols and support.

These initiatives help players, coaches and families recognise risks early, respond safely and build a culture where long‑term brain health is prioritised.
