Talent Development

First Nations Rugby League Academy

The First Nations Rugby League Academy is a landmark partnership between the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and the Arthur Beetson Foundation (ABF), designed to create meaningful pathways for the next generation of First Nations athletes. The Academy’s purpose is to deliver a culturally safe, high-performance development environment for talented young First Nations players, with a strong focus on those from regional and remote communities across Queensland.

It aims to remove barriers to opportunity while honouring culture, connection and identity.

Through the Academy, participants will have access to elite coaching, high-performance facilities and comprehensive athlete support services. Key areas of focus include talent identification, cultural mentoring, mental health and wellbeing support, leadership development and life skills education — ensuring athletes are supported both on and off the field.

Wheelchair Rugby League Representative Programs

The Wheelchair Rugby League representative programs provide athletes with a disability the opportunity to represent Queensland and compete at an elite level.

Wheelchair rugby league continues to grow across the state, showcasing incredible skill, speed and competitiveness. These programs help ensure athletes have the opportunity to progress through the pathway and wear the Queensland jersey with pride.

It’s one of the most powerful examples of what the game can be. Not defined by limitation, but driven by ability, resilience and a genuine love for rugby league.
